"The problem, working with Martha for this Louis Horst Memorial, was she was so upset that she couldn’t revive Primitive Mysteries herself, so she asked Sophie Maslow to come in to do it, and we were all up at Connecticut College. Martha just didn’t want to even look at Primitive Mysteries rehearsal. She refused to come in to see what I was doing or what the group was doing, it was, 'No no,' from the very beginning. About three days before the performance, which was a memorial, Primitive Mysteries, Frontier, El Penitente, I remember when we were rehearsing in the evening, in comes Martha. She came in without notice." – Yuriko in an interview with her daughter, Susan Kikuchi
