Early 20th Century

National Palace Museum of Korea

National Palace Museum of Korea
Seoul, South Korea

This skirt is one of the clothing artifacts from the Joseon royal household left behind after Princess Deokhye, daughter of Emperor Gojong, stayed in Japan. The Bunka Gakuen Costume Museum in Tokyo, Japan re-donated this jacket to the National Palace Museum of Korea in 2015 after it had been given to the Costume Museum by Imperial Prince Yeong and his consort.

It is made of four widths of dark pink patterned gauze made of degummed silk yarn with a circular longevity symbol and gourd patterns without lining.
