In my piece “Princess Lillith von Simmons,” I have paired my cat Lilly, who grew up in my care as
an orphaned newborn kitten, with the grandiose attire of Queen Elizabeth I. The juxtaposition
of subject matter is intended to elicit a humorous response, while also paying homage to her
regal disposition.
