This is a photograph of excited race goers attending the Grand National at Aintree Racecourse. From 1906 the track was extended at Seaforth and Litherland, connecting the Liverpool Overhead Railway to the Lancashire and Yorkshire railway. This enabled special trips from Dingle to Aintree and Southport. These special trains ran twice a year for the Grand National and Jump Sunday.
