Printed cloth (kanga)

A black and white printed cloth of the Comoros Islands. It is designed with repeating square panels, each with a continuous patterned border of geometric floral motifs in black on a white background, enclosing a central design of the same motifs, but in white on a black background. The cloth has been sewn together into a tube to form the lower part of a Comorean woman's dress.
