This printed copy of a letter addressed by Lady Franklin to the Admiralty is in reference to the announcement that the officers and crews of H.M.S. Erebus and Terror were to be considered as having died in Her Majesty's service if no intelligence was received that they were still alive before 31st March 1854. It was ordered to be printed by the House of Commons and this copy was given by Lady Franklin to Mrs Kay, her sister in law, on 30 Mar 1854. The printed letter is 12 pages long.
