This metal chair is believed to have been made by Allied Prisoners-of-War working on the Burma to Thailand railway, sometime during their incarceration by Japanese military forces between 1942 & 1945. This example is one of two similarly crafted metal chairs recovered by an Australian officer who was part of the occupation forces which entered this region at the end of World War II.
