'Private Griffiths does his bit' is part of a series of art medals created by the engravers and designers at the Royal Mint reacting to the brief ‘The First World War’. Inspiration was drawn from many sources including the landscapes of the battle fields and monuments of France and Belgium as well as the art and poetry of the time.
