A scene from mural paintings at Bowon Sathan Sutthawat Temple, which was the main temple associated with the Front Palace in Bangkok. This mural scene depicts the procession to bring the Phra Phuttha Sihing Buddha from the Grand Palace to the Front Palace during the reigns of First King Mongkut and Second King Pinklao. King Mongkut elevated his brother to the unprecedented rank of Second King, leading to the development of several structures that nearly echoed those within the Grand Palace. In order to celebrate the newly elevated status of Second King Pinklao, First King Mongkut gave the Second King the Phra Phuttha Sihing Buddha in order to nearly mirror the Emerald Buddha that sits in the temple of the Grand Palace. In doing so, First King Mongkut created two palaces which almost mirrored one another.
