Pirri frequently works in the fields of sculpture and installation. The themes
around which his artistic production rotates are primarily light and reference to
theatre. Critic have seen in his works an emerging awareness of the dramatic nature
of everyday life. It is thus in art that we must seek the possibility of finding
authentic redemption for a mankind drifting in the age of globalization towards
an increasing standardization of values and the loss of any sense of communal
living. Shown in the exhibition ‘Pax’ at the Galleria Tucci Russo, the watercolour exhibited here was one of a series of six preparatory sketches for a sculpture based on the myth of the abduction of Europa by Zeus.
Animated by vertical tension, the lines form curves and volutes with a dynamic
rippling of volumes. (Transl. by Paul Metcalfe per Scriptum, Roma)
