Developed by Olivetti between 1962 and 64, the Programma 101 started off as a desktop computer. It can do the four basic operations and the extraction of square roots. It is designed by Pier Giorgio Perotto and uses some innovative technical solutions. It can be programmed with relative ease by the user and has an integrated printer. In 1967 Hewlett-Packard violates some of its patents and is sentenced to issue Olivetti a refund of a million dollars.
