Virtual image of the Western facade of the medieval cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The entrance was high, so it was accessed by stairs. The portal opened with a large central arch and two sides, which corresponded in the same way to those of the Portico of Glory. Master Mateo's project for the completion of the cathedral highlights the new privileged axis from West to East. Both the magnificent western door, the narthex with the Portico of Glory, the stone choir and the statue of Santiago the Major enthroned behind the high altar, works of the Mateano workshop, are markers for this new axis.
