The deer antler was one of the raw materials that were used during the Upper Palaeolithic to do projectile points. As the stone points, they were thought to be attached to a wooden shaft and become projectile weapons of great precision. The base, wedge or bevel shaped and with engraved lines facilitated the attaching to the shaft with resins and vegetal fibres or threads of tendon. In the Magdalenian period, they were the hunting weapon par excellence.
