This nocturnal clock has an ebony case in the unusual form of a monstrance. Around the circumference of the large dial runs a broad band of the hours, pierced to enable them to be read in the dark with an internal light source. The central disk also has a pierced eye which projects the hours onto a wall, again thanks to the internal light source. The other smaller dials indicate the months, the days, the phases of the moon and the astrological triangulations.
