A view of a stage and elaborate proscenium arch, through which a scene featuring a deep perspectival view populated by classical dieties. The red chalk is restricted to the figures and setting on stage, creating a strong contrast between the drama and surrounding architecture. A coat of arms appears at the top of the sheet, worked into the proscenium arch. Evidence of reworking of the design can be seen throughout this somewhat unfinished drawing.
