Pterosaur

Senckenberg Nature Museum Frankfurt

Senckenberg Nature Museum Frankfurt
Frankfurt am Main, Germany

This short-tailed pterodactyl was already described 150 years by Senckenberg researcher Hermann von Mayer. Pterodactylus only reached a wing span of 50 centimeters. Several specimens were almost entirely preserved in the limestone layers (Plattenkalk) of the Solnhofen lagoon. Perhaps the flying dinosaurs crashed in the ocean while hunting fish?
