One of the most successful hip hop impresarios of the 1990s, Sean Combs (aka Puff Daddy, P. Diddy and Diddy) started his music career as an intern for Uptown Records in 1991. Several months later he was promoted to A&R executive and served as executive producer for a string of hit albums, including Mary J. Blige’s What’s the 411? By 1993 Combs left Uptown and started his own Bad Boy Entertainment label, collecting a roster of hitmakers, including the Notorious B.I.G. In 2001, Combs changed his professional name to P. Diddy and released The Saga Continues, which included the Number Five hit “Bad Boy for Life.” In 1998, he branched out again, creating a line of sportswear called Sean John. In 2022, Combs received the BET Lifetime Achievement Award. Combs and Mase wore these outfits in the music video for “Mo Money Mo Problems” by The Notorious B.I.G.
