Pungi, also called Tumbi or Nagasar, is widely used by snake charmers in India and Pakistan for religious ceremonies. Pungi originated in India and was initially designed as an accompaniment to folk music in India. There are no pauses when the Pungi is played, thus creating a trance like sound. The instrument being one to two feet in length, consists of two reeds or bamboo tubes, one for melody and other for drone.
