This amusing shoe-shaped purse, complete with tiny heel and decorative laces, was designed to carry coins. Its design is unusual for the period and anticipates the work of fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, who collaborated with the Surrealist artist Salvador Dalí on a number of items during the 1930s, most notably the shoe hat of 1937.
