Andrea della Robbia1475/1490

Casa Buonarroti

Casa Buonarroti
Firenze, Italy

The putto, in glazed terracotta, is attributable to the workshop of Andrea della Robbia and belongs to the museum’s collection since from the 17th century; the descrizione buonarrotiana (1684) remember it in the ricetto. We know that Michelangelo the Younger had planned from the beginning a robbiane collection. The young boy, seated on a shelf decorated with colorful flowers, is intent on playing a cembalo with his chubby hands.
