A copyright date of 1880 marks R. Bliss Mfg. Co.'s dexterity puzzle "The Five Little Pigs." With such an early date, it precedes Charles Crandall's "Pigs in Clover" puzzle, which got a patent in 1889. Crandall's game, however, caught on with the public and sales soared for a brief time. This Bliss game plays differently than the Crandall game, but it is still a marble dexterity game. Most curious, perhaps is the use of the word "Pigs" in the title.
