A charpoy smaller in size or lower in height, specifically made for children to sleep on, is known as a manji. Manji are sometimes placed outside the house, on the street, for elders to sit on while keeping an eye on their children and grandchildren playing. This manji had lathe turned wooden legs with webbing made using jute ropes.
