Fred Pyke was a pioneer Victorian surfboard manufacturer originally based in suburban Melbourne Fred moved his operations to Torquay in the late 1960s. This vintage Pyke Malibu is in remarkably good condition for its age and features a balsa and redwood Tband stringer (laminated layers). With a background in wood working Pyke was more than competent with his tools and had an eye for quality, reflected in the design and finish of many of his boards. Pyke's factory in Torquay, in many ways, created the template for the next generation of the surf industry that developed in Torquay.
