Pyrola japonica (Japanese wintergreen)

Evergreen herbaceous plants in the family Ericaceae. Under the old Cronquist system it was placed in its own family Pyrolaceae. It grows under the shade of the trees of the forest. Pyrola americana is about 20 cm tall, spreads by means of underground rhizomes. White flowers bloom in early summer.
