Pál Maléter (1917-1958) was the military leader of the 1956 Revolution, the most senior member of the Hungarian army to change sides and fight against the Soviets.
Sentenced to death by the Hungarian Supreme Court People's Council for efforts to overthrow the state, and executed on 16 June 1958.
Buried in an unmarked grave at Plot 301 in Budapest's New Public Cemetery and publicly reburied on 16 June 1989.
