Cleavers are characteristic tools of the populations that inhabited Europe during the Lower and Middle Paleolithic. They have a sharp edge on one end that can make cuts or fractures in different materials, similar to our current axes. The use of these tools is associated with Homo heidelbergensis and Neanderthal, who disappeared about 200,000 and 28,000 years ago, respectively.
