A portrait of Queen Anne-Marie of the Hellenes, consort and wife to King Constantine II of Greece, on the grounds of the Tatoi Palace, the country home of the Greek royal family. Located in the woods of Mount Parnes, Tatoi is about fifteen miles from Athens. She is wearing the traditional costume worn in the Macedonian town of Naousa. It was presented to her by The Society of Greek Women, one of the oldest organizations of its kind. Glinting with silver and gold, the costume features a tasseled hat that was introduced to court by Queen Amalia during the nineteenth century.
