Queen Elizabeth II and members of the royal family, including Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Princess Anne, visited the Barbican site on 20th November 1972. This date was the silver wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. During the visit, the Queen unveiled the foundation stone for the new Barbican Arts Centre.
