Queen Stephanie of Hohenzollern--Sigmaringen arrived in Lisbon on May 17, 1859. She was married by procuration on April 29 to King Pedro V in St. Hedwig’s Cathedral in Berlin. The ratification took place on May 18 at the Church of São Domingos in Lisbon. Painting signed and dated in 1859.
