Queen Victoria arrives at Kelso

The arrival of Queen Victoria at Kelso Station in the Scottish Borders was recorded in the London Illustrated News. Huge celebrations greeted her arrival, a rare public appearance after the death of Prince Albert 6 years previously. The Queen was staying with the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe at Floors Castle, stopping off on her way to Balmoral.
