Quirt

Wooden quirt with otter skin belt, Grass Dance, Arapaho or Sioux? Handle of quirt is wooden and one side has a stepped appearance. It is painted green, and decorated with brass tacks. There is a hole drilled through each end. The top end has a leather thong through it that attaches to the otter belt and allows the quirt to swing down. The opposite end has two tanned pieces of leather hanging down.The tops are wrapped in red wool. The belt portion is otter skin that is decorated with 2 quilled rosettes as well as quilled bands and quilled ties. The rosettes are orange and yellow while the rest of the quill work is red with orange, yellow, and purple. The ties have small tin cones at the ends that have green horse hair tuffs and one set has red tuffs. Belt fastens with two leather thongs.
