This haniwa represents a quiver, a cylindrical object used to carry arrows. There are large, fin-like slabs sticking out on both sides of the quiver. There is meticulous work on the quiver, such as the lines carved on the clay to represent six arrows and a vertical belt and fastener to ensure arrows do not fall out of either side of the quiver.
