Nairobi, Kenya

Leather quiver containing one arrow. Made by an old male craftsman specialist from cowskins or from the skin of "Ndovo" which were considered the best. The wet leather is moulded round and a long stick called "Mware" to get the right shape and is sewn with sinews from the back muscle of a cow. This is separated with a knife and must be used when wet and soft. The arrows are cut from the tree called "Mutei" and another called "Muragi" (Bamboo). Used by an adult male hunter for hunting game and when necessary to fight with.
