Jean Jacquemin, born in Merl in 1814, emigrates to Paris in 1844, where he works as a salesman. In 1846, he is issued his worker booklet. Like many other emigrants to Paris, Jacquemin becomes unemployed during the economic crisis in the spring of 1848 and returns to Luxembourg. In 1850, the job seeker leaves the country again for France. Jacquemin dies in 1876 in Oberanven.
