This digital story was created by Tobias as part of The Making of Black Britain.

The past may have traumatised us deeply, pressures, troubles and anxieties and an infringement of the free will given to us.
Some were deceived, some were for some was sold by relatives for cheap wine and cigarettes.
The trauma ran deep into the genetics and the mind of the generation that followed.
We can argue that it was a curse or force for purpose. One thing I know is that there's a promise of a plan to give us a hope and a future.
From way back when with walls around our highest as tall as stars, guided with integrity, but sometimes false pride. We fell short of the mark.
We're wearing chains, discriminated against, mistreated and enslaved the tree of life seemingly not granted to us.
Our view of the tree of life must have been like a tool, to administrate punishment and beating at the will of the perceived enemy. Battered and bruised for 400 years just like the Israelites in search of a Moses, though our hope was broken over and over. Through the fire gold is tried, is moulded, is purified.
Now we can look forward, there's a hope, there's always a love to give during may be hard to find. Now we have a choice to make. Let go of the past pain and forget, or dig deep into the scab that will never heal on its own.
We cannot be forgiven unless we ourselves forgive.
From my own personal experience. I've been chased threatened and abused by my own black brothers. Though I'm not proud of it. I've been in fights with people that look just like me. I've been in fights with people of a different shade. Racially abused, cursed out, mocked from black, white, yellow, except.. Except for the Indians, except for them. I haven't experienced it.
But this experience seems to be the norm for most black people in the country where they're the minority. Discrimination is a serious issue by I think is far too much of a detailed topic for us to fully expound on and understand, in its minute intricacies.
I felt discrimination from every single race, including my own, except for the Indian brothers and sisters. It's far too complex to solve on our own. We need to rely on the word of god.
I want to forgive I want to try and forget. I want to let down the walls. I want to let go. I want to press forward. I want to press towards the given promise of a plan to give me a hope and a future. Though god understands the meaning, depths and the purpose of different races, beyond anything that I can fathom honestly, I still believe when he deals with us he does not see colour, he sees children.
We are the most valuable creation in all of god's creation. More beautiful and complex than the entire universe. We will judge angels. We are joint heirs with Christ and the kingdom as kings and priests.
Each soul more valuable than the entire world, more precious than a ruby or diamonds or any other precious stone. There is no quantifiable value for a soul, but each soul is the same value.
I want to internalise and believe that.
I want to hold that in my heart. I want to deal with my brothers and sisters of all races as the same in creation.
It's not going to be easy but I want to try. I want to try and be colourblind when it comes to race. Keyword being try.
