View of blanket boats lashed together to create a raft floating on the Potomac River. Logs run over the top of the raft to create a platform, where a cannon rests, surrounded by men who recline on the artillery and sit in the boats around the platform. Individual blanket boats rest along the riverbank, where sailing ships in the process of construction can be seen over a wooden fence.
