The Henry Ford

The Henry Ford
Dearborn, MI, United States

Turntables allowed locomotives or cars to be turned around in tight spaces, or provided access to roundhouse stalls. The Pere Marquette Railway used this turntable, built in 1901, in Petoskey, Michigan. The device is so well balanced that rail workers can easily turn a several-ton locomotive by hand.
