Charles Goebel donated this safety pamphlet to the Kansas Museum of History after spending 46 years working for the Santa Fe Railroad. Information such railroad crossing statistics, signs, and markers is included in the pamphlet as well as safety advice.
After the U.S. Civil War railroads expanded rapidly in Kansas. Traveling through the state on train was one of the safest and fastest ways to cross the country.
