The most interesting in this watercolor is the compositional focus of the subject of the stilts, plastically valuing the uncertain lines, simultaneously dense and transparent, that support the modest huts of the river station. The instability thus suggested contrasts with the solidity of the bulwark and the guessed tower of the Commerce Square, as a metaphor for the watery body of the city. Also note the soft tonality of the sunset light, dimming the water and turning the atmosphere grey, in a mobile exercise that almost absorbs the naturalistic attention of the registry.
