Raked leaves is a work by American artist Patrick Jacobs (California, USA, 1971). Viewers are transported to magical new realities through his exquisitely constructed works, small-scale dioramas embedded in the gallery walls, each visible only through a circular magnifying glass window. Beyond the glass await lush green fields, tiny flats or colourful clusters of mushrooms, designed, as the artist explains, "to reach far enough to convince you that they are what they are". Drawing on a wide range of influences, he constructs captivating miniature worlds, manipulating our sense of perspective and infusing the everyday with a touch of fantasy.
