Virginia Governor John Garland Pollard addressing guests at the opening of the reconstructed Raleigh Tavern as Colonial Williamsburg's first exhibition building on September 16, 1932. The dedication ceremony held outside the tavern included speeches by Governor John Garland Pollard, Mayor George P. Coleman (left of speaker), and Kenneth Chorley, Vice-President of Colonial Williamsburg. It concluded with Dr. W.A.R. Goodwin (left of Coleman) formally opening the front door to admit the first guests.
