Medieval pagan cults existed among the urban population along with Islam. The cult of the ram has been traced in the Syrdarya river region to the ancient times. It was associated with the Zoroastrian Farn. Until recently, among different communities, Farn was associated with the highest grace, wealth, happiness, health, protection from evil forces and the prosperity of the hearth.
