Election certificate for Srinivasa Aaiyangar Ramanujan to the Fellowship of the Royal Society.
The citation reads:
"Research Student in Mathematics. Distinguished as a pure mathematician, particularly for his investigations in elliptic functions and the theory of numbers. Author of the following papers, amongst others: - 'Modular Equations and Approximations to pi' (Quart Journ, vol xlv); 'New Expressions for Riemann's Function zeta (s) and xi (t)' (ibid, vol lxvi); 'Highly Composite Numbers' (Proc Lond Math Soc, vol xiv); 'On Certain Arithmetical Functions' (Trans Camb Phil Soc, vol xxii); 'On the Expression of a Number in the Form ax2 + by2 + cz2 + dt2' (Proc Camb Phil Soc, vol xix). Joint author with G H Hardy, FRS of the following papers: - 'Une formule asymptotique pour le nombre des partitions de 'n'' (Comptes Rendus, January 2, 1917); 'Asymptotic Formulae for the Distribution of Integers of various Types' (Proc Lond Math Soc, vol xvi); 'The Normal Number of Prime Factors of a Number 'n'' (Quart Journ, vol xlvii); 'Asymptotic Formulae in Combinatory Analysis' (Proc Lond Math Soc, awaiting publication)."
