This is another work by Rashid Rana where the city of Lahore takes centre stage. It is an image of the tomb of the Emperor Jahangir and is composed of smaller images of an ordinary utilitarian objects in this case mobile phone cards. Similar to the earlier works the juxtaposition of a Mughal monument with mundane consumer items is a comment on the historical city of Lahore as it becomes engulfed with urbanisation.
Images of text on the Mobile phone cards can play with the notion of language such as Shahzia Sikandar’s Captivity.
