CFSs or Child-Friendly Spaces were hugely important in the aftermath of the earthquake, as they kept track of and corralled children living in the temporary tent cities set up in every open public space in the Kathmandu Valley. Building blocks were very popular among the kids, as it allowed them to build, destroy and rebuild structures over and over again in a setting where they felt safe and in control.
