The singer from Chiclana, Antonio Reyes, was born in Chiclana (Cádiz) in 1975. He performed for the first time on stage in 1982 in Ojén (Málaga). A year later he shared the bill at the Fiesta de la Parpuja, held in his hometown, with artists such as Camarón, Calixto Sánchez, el Cabrero and Fosforito, among others. At the age of 10 he won the first prize in Fuengirola, in the youth category. He was a finalist in 1988 in the prestigious Mairena del Alcor competition. In 2000 he won the first prize in the Camarón Memorial, and in 2001 the second prize of the Andalusian Confederation of Flamenco Clubs and the Antonio Mairena and Manolo Caracol prizes in the National Flamenco Art Competition in Córdoba.
The flamenco clubs, with their intense activity, become the driving forces and dynamizers of the flamenco fabric. They play an important role in the conservation and diffusion of this art. There are 415 flamenco clubs in Andalusia, 390 of which belong to their respective provincial federations. These federations are grouped together in the Andalusian Confederation of Flamenco Clubs.
