It's always fascinating to see how children's playthings incorporate technology. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Fisher-Price produced a line of books that incorporated miniature records on the pages for a "read along" effect. Children needed to use the accompanying battery-powered handheld player to hear the content. The technique was certainly more streamlined than playing a standard disk on a record player while you read along, but it was considerably less impressive than later toys that incorporated cassettes, CDs, or digital chips.
