The Chad Mitchell Trio applied the vocal skills of Chad Mitchell, Mike Kobluk, and Joe Frazier to both standard folk songs and original satirical numbers. This live LP recorded at The Bitter End, a Greenwich Village coffee house, opens with "The John Birch Society," featuring such lyrics as "if Mommy is a Commie, then you've gotta turn her in." It also includes Woody Guthrie's "The Great Historical Bum" and century-old traditional tunes such as "The Unfortunate Man." The group epitomized one element of the urban folk revival of and the pacifist and protest songs of the early 1960s.
