Rectangular Box Decorated with Gold Lacquer

This box was used to make offerings to ancestors or the gods and was filled with fruit or other food. The offering box is made of carved wood and lacquered with gold. The top is carved with a scene from the Story of the Three Kingdoms called Going at It Alone (dandao fuhui). Two of the sides are carved with flowers and the top of the lid is painted with poetry.
