Headquarters to Instituto Terra, the Private Reserve of Natural Heritage Bulcão Farm has been identified as the second most common place to see the Red-browed Parrotin the region of Aimores-MG, Brazil, according to a fauna research performed by the USINA DE AIMORES in 2012. An endemic bird from the Atlantic Forest that is in the list of species in danger of extinction. The Red-browned parrot has as a great threat, besides the reduction of its habitat, the illegal captures of its chicks while still in the nest, which are highly valuable in the wild fauna traffic. It is a large-bodied parrot – measuring around 40cm in length – feeds off fruits, seeds, berries, flower buds and leaves found at the top of the forest. It's found in humid tropical forest in low coastal regions as well as high countryside ones. The greatest concentration is found in the State of Espirito Santo, although it is also present in forest in the state of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, as well as in the southeastern Bahia.
